I know the answer is probably yes, but is it really true that this is gone forever? Its like March 2013 all over again

2023/2024 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):
29/11 (-6), 30/11 (-6), 02/12 (-5), 03/12 (-5), 04/12 (-3), 16/01 (-3), 18/01 (-8), 08/02 (-5)

Total: 8 days with snow/sleet falling.

2022/2023 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

18/12 (-1), 06/03 (-6), 08/03 (-8), 09/03 (-6), 10/03 (-8), 11/03 (-5), 14/03 (-6)

Total: 7 days with snow/sleet falling.

2021/2022 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

26/11 (-5), 27/11 (-7), 28/11 (-6), 02/12 (-6), 06/01 (-5), 07/01 (-6), 06/02 (-5), 19/02 (-5), 24/02 (-7), 30/03 (-7), 31/03 (-8), 01/04 (-8)
Total: 12 days with snow/sleet falling.

Yes

Instead of looking at a tiny outline map of the UK with a 15 (or was it 30?) minute delay in the radar as your own means of telling where it was raining, you now have to look at a full screen, fully zoomable, large scale map of the UK showing every town and city and with only a 5 minute delay.

What a step backwards, eh?   Almost as bad as when they started showing the snooker in colour rather than good ol' black and white.  The cads!

btw what happened in March 2013?

It's not been working for over a week now.

The real downer in all of this is that the new MetO mapping page does not play nicely with all mobile browsers (basic Android browser on Samsung devices does not like it, but Chrome for Android is OK), and is far more intensive on the mobile data front leading to slow or non-starting loadups when mobile data coverage isn't brilliant.

Stick to Raintoday Mobile for rainfall radar would be my advice.

I prefered the old UKMO radar, but i knew it was going soon, which is why I started using TWO radar for my videos earlier in the year.

As an aside, I find the weatheronline site works well using 2G on my Nokia 206 (over 1 month standby time - take that iPhones! ) - not just the radar but also charts.

Wow not used the old Met Office radar for about 5 years or more, when it was first available it was very useful, I use meteoradar's nowadays.

Does anyone know a simple usable radar with no fancy features (No translucent colours, no google earth, no zoom, and a clear colour scheme?)

I like to have two radars, a quick and easy one and a more advanced one. My advanced radar of choice is raintoday, but now I need a replacement for my easy radar.

It's a radar. There are loads of others available. They all show the same precipitation.

But you're right, it's a disaster and I would hope the army has been mobilised.

I also cannot find the later obs page that showed weather, temp, wind etc  at hourly intervals

I tweeted them asking them where it was and they sent me a link to the WOW page - wtf?
