Unless it is just me, I am noticing that the weather is often better than what is being forecast several days out. Looks a nice weekend for many - maybe a few showers Sunday but in the main, pretty good.

A few strikes already this morning from some rougue showers in EA. Could be a more acctive day for some in the E than was being forecast. The MetO have certainly upped the risk, with talk of thundery showers in this area from lunchtime onwards through the night and into tomorrow morning.

I would not expect anything before 4pm, and even then it's likely to be pretty isolated within those warning areas. Some models are showing a line of storms from NE England down to Wash at 6pm, whereas others are having none of it. Wait and see job.

Looks like the shower/storm risk overhyped - again. I expected a lovely day in S England and that's what we have.

The way things look now I can see it being quite a lively late evening for the Thames Valley and into E Anglia as the plume destabilises ahead of the main trough crossing W to E.

Yes, looks like a convergence zone setting up E. Yorks southwards, and showers brewing up along that

A few rumbles of thunder and the sky went very dark indeed.

Now a prolonged monsoon style downpour - such that a substantial stream is now flowing down the road past my house.

Going very much as forecasts predicted, with isolated storms breaking out ahead of the frontal band. Some signs of intensification of that band as it pushes into the east, so the old "thundery rain" adage applies as it moves eastward.

Thundering constantly to the south, does not seem to be heading this way _ but since the storm grew from nothing in an hour, anything could happen.

Very dark to the SW of here as a heavy shower approaches.
