Yes, as per Lpndon, another poor forecast for Chelmsford. At 8am it was very sunny nut since about 10am it has been very cloudy and now looks like rain. Not that warm either. About 22c

This will do nicely if this is what summer in The Cairngorms is all about

http://www.sat24.com/en/gb  Up here it is currently a quite humid 20°C with good sunny spells (after a forecast high of 18).

How can you tell doc? Do mean the two areas of cloud approach each other over Central Southern England? Currently 25.3C after an earlier high of 26.1C - the humid is rather low down here today @ 54%

Yes, I was just using the rather crude tool of watching the cloud movement as a means of judging the air flows. 😄

Well, that's a bit rubbish. It came over all dark and overcast and is now raining. This South Kent climate can be a load of bullocks sometimes.

22.2 C with 85% humidity.

Looking at the dew point distribution across the UK today, that 'rope cloud' like structure appears to be a band of high cloud marking the boundary between fresher Atlantic sourced air and the continental air with its higher dewpoints.

The two airmasses have been having a bit of a war for three days now, but with the high cloud having expanded during the afternoon while also becoming increasingly faint, it appears that the frontlines are starting to mingle - the airmasses are mixing together.

If my interpretation is correct, we should see that boundary start to head back west again over the next 24 hours, and possibly become better defined again as the push from the east feeds in a new mass of continental air.

I have to admit, I'd have preferred more mixing out to occur with a continued standoff, as that would have lowered the humidity more here in Reading. As it is, today feels about as clammy as the last few, with a dewpoint of 15*C and an air temp now past 25*C.

I do wonder how all that low cloud in the North Sea will behave tonight - this morning saw some of that stuff over Reading, and it took until 11am to clear off. Looks nice and clear across Scandinavia though - and the easterly flow should bring that our way soon enough

Still feels pretty sapping to me, although better than it did earlier at 14:00 with a temp 22C and dew point 17C.

Just not used to these conditions in Blighty.

27.3C was my highest recording up to 16:40, however after a cycle through the city I'm certain higher temperatures in portsmouth have been reached today.

Feels quite nice, not muggy that's for sure. Average warm summer feel. If anything it has felt cooler then the thermometers say it.

I have just taken a look at the readings from the gosport station and it would appear that 15C dew points are a little below average for the summer.

33C with 100% Humidity - Don't know what the dew points where, but it was like being in a steam room. The ground wouldn't dry until the next day, and the sweat simply wouldn't evaporate... We had air conditioned hotel rooms though.
