Impressive to very nearly hit 30*C on the South Coast today.

Given that GFS (which undercooked the maximums across the south by 1-3*C today) is showing temperatures 1*C higher tomorrow, perhaps 31*C is in reach.

By that logic, 32*C could be seen on Thursday.

Friday is currently shown to be similar to Thursday, but you never know, temps could sneak a tad higher as the flow turns more northerly going into the weekend...

Sometime between 5-9pm the temperature spiked in my half of portsmouth, for the most part it had been stuck nearer to 28C but when I got home I had 31C as the max on the thermometer. I guess it happened when the breeze switched southeasterly and blew the warm air from the interior northward.

This effect of the past 3 days is what happened las July, only it was a tad but warmer then... Multiple days of +30C heat.

Today should see temperatures rising very rapidly over the coming few hours.

The 8-9am rise was subdued a fair bit across much of the SE though, and having noticed that there was some mist and low cloud in the northern reaches of the region this morning, I guess the northerly flow transported the relatively cooler air underneath it aross rhe region, explaning why temperatures only rose by around a degree at most, as opposed to the usual 2-3*C per hour under sunny skies.

Perhaps I'm looking into it a bit much though

Rapidly rising temperatures under clear skies here in The Highlands, it is 22.2c here from a low of 10.1c

In the west temperatures have reached 24c already from Kinlochbervie in the far NW down to Glenfinnan, a different story on the east coast where it is 13c with the dreaded haar.

I can see 28 or 29c up here today.

25C @ 9.50am in Derry - it's gonna be the hottest day of the year so far here.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Northern Ireland is 30.8C - we'll probably not beat that today, but it might get close over the next couple of days!

I've also notice that the dew points and humidity are considerably higher then yesterday, could that have effected the speed in which the temperatures rose??

61% humidity

16.9C dew point.

I just looked my post yesterday from the same time of day.

Temperature was 25.3C

Dew point 12.7C

humidity 46%

So from that I can see very little difference.

25.2C here as the max so far, I notice Blackpool is 28C, here in the NW region the coast is always warmer/hottter in these set ups with the easterly wind giving coastal areas the offshore hot flow instead of the cooler onshore one.

I've a question...

Dew points have climbed to 17.5C with humidity at 55%

Air temperature is 27.6C

So my question is this, has the plume weather returned from the east??

No luck here today, the haar and low cloud never lifted, leaving temps sitting at 16c all day.

Forecast looks more hopeful tomorrow.

Unless your familiar with portsmouth this post is pointless.

It was 29C in my part of hilsea when I left for work 25 minutes ago.. But cycling up through north end, fratton and into Milton it was very hot!!!

Must have been at least 32-33C, the warm wind that has been refreshing in my garden all day was hot, like standing behind a coach... It was actually quite hard to breath whilst cycling in that heat!!! Even cycling in the shade it was a hot wind.

Milton is thankful a little fresher.
