Passed us by twice this afternoon-obviously wet close by to the north but for us enough to just wet the road at Harwell. Will it ever rain again here-gardens need it but the farmers going hard to get the harvest in.

May get something out of that package of activity that's currently moving along towards the Strait of Dover in from the SSW. At the moment it's all quiet, calm and dry.

They're not imprts per se. They've developed in response to an upper trough caught in a field of raised theta-e wafting across the Channel ahead of the main trough. A few lines of storms will move into E Sussex and Kent early hours.

Right now, I'm looking at that mass skirting the coast - France as usual getting a good hammering.

Distant rumblings from The SW around to the NW mid/late afternoon and a few more earlier this evening. Impressive cloudscapes - nice to watch in the sunshine

How's this for a localised thing? Right now as I type this, Hythe and Sandgate (3 to 6 miles away to my west) are experiencing flash flooding and thunder thanks to a localised slow moving heavy shower - yet here at the Harbour end at Folkestone all I got to see was about ten minutes of spitty rain blowing about in the brisk wind, and now the sun is trying to come out again.
Does look dark and threatening to my west - like it has been so for the past hour.

EDIT: It is now raining moderately.
