Exactly the same as Art, 9.6mm, not sure whether thats correct or not, we haven't had that much rain just short showers here, the only thing I think it is might be the size of the rain drops, like today for instance we had a few shot lived showers but the rain drops were huge, I was out in the garden earlier and was pelted by what felt like egg cup sized drops, a few of them in your weather station cup wouldl total up a few mm pretty quick.

Lousy start to August with 14.6mm in the first 3 days - over a quarter of the monthly average already.

I've just checked my records and it is almost a year since there was last a full week without rain (9 days from 28th August to 5th Sept 2013). Truly without precedent the lack of settled weather this year.

Still on 13.2mm here. Just a trace from a few very large droplets, earlier, from an increase in convective activity marking the upcoming change to wetter conditions.

1.2mm added on the 7th from a very brief but sharp shower in the early hours and another around midday. Total now at 22mm.

Today's expected convective activity here could significantly add to my total .. or add nothing at all! Such is the nature of the convective beast

Parts of Cambridgeshire received 50mm in just an hour yesterday. There's sure to be some impressive monthly totals in places.

There was persistent heavy-torrential rain for over an hour last night here too. I just wish I have a rain gauge!
