Absolutely chucking it down and thunder & lightning

Had some mainly moderate rain for a while recently, some rumbles of thunder but no lightning seen.  Looks like everything skirted around us this time.

A few decent lightning strikes with some heavy rain from a storm that has just come through here.

Current thinking is that the inherent moisture in Sunday's system could well spark activity in many areas.

For half hour an we've just had the most sustained torrential rain I've seen here for years.

Accompanied by thunder, but the roaring of the rain on the roof made it difficult to tell exactly how frequent.

We were blessed with two storms here in Kendal today.  The first at about 2pm had some rather bizarre rain, one second torrential, the next nothing, with a few thunder rumbles.  The second which is just leaving now started at about 5:30 and had absolutely torrential rain for about 40 minutes - showed up white on Raintoday.  Lots of surface water flooding and overflowing gutters.  All very exciting.

After a warm bright morning at 21 C. Festival crowds were sent scurrying as heavy rain and loud thunder moved in quickly from the south. A few more rumbles and moderate rain up to 7pm. Quiet cloudy and much cooler now

Left work at 9pm to a downpour of rain, the car park was already covered in lakes of water at that point, and a lot of standing water going home.  Still coming down very heavy!
