dont know what peole make of this,  ?????

Mark Sudduth has a comment on his blog (hurricanetrack.com)

"In fact, interests in the United Kingdom should keep watch over the post-tropical version of Cristobal as it tracks across the Atlantic over the next several days"

It does seem uncertain where ex-Cristobal will end up, but it is forecast to become a very powerful extra-tropical storm, still with hurricane force winds, so best

hope it doesn't make a beeline for the Uk

Obviously the reason i ask - is becuase sea temps will start to become important to winter weather fans over the next few months.

The forecast in the paper can be spun the other way too- 65 % chance of normal or colder than normal autumn. I guess for the mail its better to have the story that sells rather than the mundane. There never seems to be a 'winter to be about average' story - no-one would buy it (as in spend the money, rather than 'believe' which I'd like to think no-one does but alas the general public tend to pick up chinese whispers of these things.)

Although given the frequency with which the media come up with this nonsense about it being an Indian Summer, I propose calling any warm spell in September a "Fools Summer"

I am writing to you in the capacity of an amateur weather enthusiast, in why do you persist on putting on your front page, sensationalistic weather headlines which prove to be wrong or were way OTT? Why do you persist on taking the word of these so called "forecasters", when often they have been wrong?
The headline prediction of hottest August in 300 years was the latest embarrassment, it turned out to be in fact the coolest for 21 years.
If the Met Office had made this prediction, I would be in no doubt that you would have a front page panning the Met Office for this, yet you persist on going to the same private forecasters who have got it wrong time and time again.
Do you realise on amateur weather forums on the internet such as UKWeatherworld, Netweather, TheWeatherOutlook, which I post on regular that you are consider a joke of a newspaper? Don't take my word for it go and have look yourself.

I have been "collecting" those headlines and putting them up as links in a thread on my own Cloud Master facebook page purely for comedy purposes. This way at least my own followers will have an idea on how bad that paper is as well as cutting down on those "OMG is it true???" messages.

The age-old adage "Never let the facts get in the way of a Good Story" applies, so I would not hold my breath on any apology from the Express et al. I think it's worthwhile applying the same bullsh1t detector that one knows to use on weather stories in these papers to all their other "news" as well.

Off topic but related - when did a 'Stay-cation' mean a holiday taken in the UK? I took it to be staying at home and having local day trips? The new version is what I have called a 'holiday' for most of my life! Am I missing something?!
