9.0mm today, 100.6mm for the month to date, 777.2mm ytd.

Missed out on the heaviest rain here over the past 48 hours.

Current total for the month stands at 73.4mm.

Total rainfall for 2014 now only 13.5mm below the total for the whole of 2013 and already well ahead of 2006 and 2010. Would still require a very wet Autumn to get anywhere near 2012 though.

80.0mm for the month so far, 167.05% of the LTA for 26 days of August.

That makes it the second wettest August I've recorded (2003-2014).

The annual total has now crossed the 700mm mark. The LTA for the whole year is 735.8mm, and exactly average rainfall for October-December would leave 2014 at 1077.4mm, setting a new record as far as my data goes, beating the old record of 2008 (1027.1mm) by some margin!

2012 saw 951.6mm at my location, which is actually a tad behind 2007, which saw 953.1mm.

The closest any year 2003-2014 has been to this year for Jan-Aug was 2007 with 632.0mm. So 2014 is 70.9mm ahead of that, and with the potential for a few more millimetres to fall over the coming days.

Final total is 86.9mm which is modestly above the average of 65.8mm  Maybe a below average September for this neck of the woods? I wouldn't bet on that, tho'

August finished here with a very wet 97mm, almost double our average.  In fact the 3rd wettest August in the last 32 years here, only the Augusts of 2004 and 2006 were wetter.   Incredibly, the 5 wettest Augusts I've recorded have all been in the last 10 years!

And Summer finishes here as the 4th wettest Summer I've recorded, with a grand total of 234mm.

August was very wet across the UK as a whole. 7th wettest since 1910 with 156% of mean rainfall.

The north of Scotland region saw its wettest August on record since 1910.

Fair Isle recorded a staggering 132.6mm of rain in the 24hrs to 09z on the 10th. This is a daily station record (records go back to 1974). The previous highest was 46.2mm in November 1986.

Most of north-east Scotland saw more than 200% of mean rainfall as did several more localised areas across the Midlands and southern England.
