Last night around 10pm I thought I saw a couple of distant flashes to my West but nothing was showing on the lightning map.

I can see one or two very very distant flickers of lightning on the SSE horizon..feels kind of weird in the warm haze. Feels very summery at 18.7c.

I see there are chances of thunderstorms late next week showing up on the models.

I don't normally associate thunderstorms with September - how common is this?

Does anyone have figures on average days with thunder per month in the UK?

There's a cell going mental to the East of here probably the Trowbridge area, flashes every couple of seconds and close enough to here the constant thunder.

Yea avid viewers can watch my webcams if they like to view a live storm. Not sure if my Infra Red Cam is working but if it is could give a good view..

Lots of lightning flashes visible tonight, but a long way away. Some rain would be welcome!

An absolute barnstormer of atmospheric pyrotechnics over the last hour with 17mm of rain in 20 mins. Power outages and many close cloud to ground strikes. This has really been an impressive summer for storms over this end of Somerset.

Sounds like some of you are having fun and games this evening! Does look impressive on the lightning radar, hope y'all stay safe.

Over here, there has been a couple of faint distant flashes in the haze over the Channel but it seems to be a very isolated feature, one that appeared to have died on the spot anyway.
