I was tempted to start a 'September Lack Of Precipitation Watch' .. tempting fate

3.3mm on the 1st, 0.6mm on the 19th - total at 3.9mm.

Currently a damp and drizzly night, so this total may be added to slightly.

Maybe mostly dry for the rest of this month here and maybe into October! Glad this is happening in early Autumn - at the end of the fruit growing season!

3.7mm so far this month, 9.1% of the LTA for 20 days of September.

A chance of finishing with just 6% of the LTA for the whole of September if the GFS 12z op run verifies, for example - or better yet the ECM 12z op run, in which settled weather is even more widespread and temperatures a little higher

Before last night I was stuck on 1.7mm for the month and on course for a record.

Sadly 19.9mm fell last night, most of it between 1 and 3am, so here endeth the extended dry period

Local news yesterday showing footage at Haweswater and the 'lost village of Mardale' reappearing as the resevoir has dropped so much lately. I had noticed Thirlmere is below it's usual capacity as well. Apparently nearby Shap has seen 7.6mm so far in Spetember when the average is 128.3mm (according to Met Office).
I did think we were due some rain today but nothing showing on the radar yet for Cumbria.

Final September total here came to 10mm, only 20% of our average.   Driest September I've recorded since 1996.

Total to date for 2014 is standing at exactly 600mm.    Already surpassed our average annual rainfall here.

Final total is 13.8mm, which is around 25% of this area's September average. October certainly not looking so dry here going by the current charts!
