Still bucketing down.  Nearly 70mm since it started raining.  My highest 24 hour total under threat.  There will be some very large rainfall totals come the end of this.

Over here, high cloud is thickening up along with the southerly wind starting to become quite brisk and fresh but at the moment it is staying dry as I'm not expecting the cold front to arrive here until the early afternoon - and even then I'm wondering how much rain there'll be left in it by the time it does arrive.

But for now, the "Red Sky In Morning, Sailor's Warning" expression couldn't be any more truer, going by this photo I've taken upon awakening at 6.30 am this morning . . .

p.s. one station has had well over ten times the September rainfall since yesterday - 7.6mm in September and over 90 mm in this event!

Curently it is 8°C and semi-dark with moderate rain.

Autumn is well and truly here after a nondescript mild lull for a couple of weeks.

After a mostly sunny week yet again the weekend arrives and it's vile. Cold, dull, wet. Just horrific. 7.6C and falling and there's been 22.2mm since yesterday evening

The weekends alone must be entirely responsible for this years rainfall surplus and sunshine deficiency. The major reason why this year has been the most grim and depressing I've experienced. Only three types of weekend weather this year: fog, rain and overcast. Forget sunshine or warmth.

Amazingly, while I was expecting it to get all gloomy and breezy by now, it's still quite bright and warm (20 C) with some sunshine at this end. I had forecasted the rain to arrive here by 1 pm but I think there may be a slight delay and even when it does eventually turn up, I don't think it'll amount to anything anyway. We'll find out by evening time to see whether the Kent Shield is still being effective.
