A dry and bright start to the day following 2.0mm  from overnight decaying showers as they moved NE from the SW Peninsula. Currently 8.7C with no wind.

Broken cloud. 11.1c in the sunshine but 9.7c in the shade. Sunny. No cloud to the south but in the opposite direction  the north there is cloud.

Cloudy and raining (edit, now quite heavy), was quite bright not so long ago. 15.7 C and 93% humidity under calm winds.

Is it too soon for me to say that I'm already sick at the sight of rain - and it's only October.  Yet this isn't anywhere near as bad as what it is like for our Scottish friends.

Just unbelievable. 1 hour of useless early morning sunshine and already it's clouded over completely to give another rank grey overcast Saturday. Can't even remember the last time there was any weekend sun between 11am and 4pm Hoping the wind will pick up to break the cloud. That's the only chance of getting sun these days. Never any chance of sunshine and light winds.

Min of 3.1C was laughably the coldest of autumn to date. Still not even beating August's low. 9.5C currently but no doubt will finish somewhere between 11 and 14C like every October day these days

Beyond credulity given how abysmal this torturous year has been that it keeps getting worse and worse. There can be no dispute that with 383% of average rainfall and 75% of average sunshine October so far has been the vilest month. Just putrid

 . . . and speak of the devil.


It has stopped raining now but still quite overcast with the sky being filled up with anvil tops overspill. 8.1 mm of rain has already fallen since 12 am - that's double the amount for the whole of last September.

EDIT: It's started raining again but I can see some blue skies.
