Does anyone do any gambling on weather?

I just noticed Ladbrokes offering 3-1 on the temperature to exceed 15°C at any point in November which seems a good bet to me?!

Actually, just noticed it is for Belgium.  Strange.  Anyway, my question still stands.

I normally only do white christmas betting as that is all that i knew was available.

If there are other markets i will be having a look and a likely punt.

In short, no. A compulsive gambler nearly two years into my second period of recovery prohibits all forms of gambling, even betting on two flies on a wall and which one will get to the ceiling first!

Good luck to anyone wishing to have a punt though, although in my experience the weather is as chaotic and unpredictable as pretty much any other form of gambling LOL.

That does seem like a very good bet. Surely in most Novembers somewhere exceeds 15°C at some point.

The only Weather gambling I have ever done was on 10 Aug 2003. For some absurd reason you could still bet at 4/1 on it being the hottest day ever recorded in the Uk when Heathrow was reporting almost 37.0c. If I wasnt a student at the time I would have put considerable more than 50 on it.

My favourite punting experience was betfair offering odds against on BOTH yes and no for white christmas for Glasgow.  Easiest £20 one could ask for.

Betfair offer 4 markets for each location, i.e. yes back and lay; no back and lay. As yet no odds for 2014.

After 100°F being hit in the UK back in 2003 I was able to do well for the next few years constantly laying bets on Betfair that it would be repeated. I think it's possible to make money weather gambling in circumstances like this where the public perception, hyped up by the media, is out of balance with the true odds.

Even with the drop off in temp forecast for tomorrow there are still a few 16 and 17C spots in the SE forecast for 1st, so my guess is that if this punt meant what it said it did you would have been in line for a payout in under 24 hours from the start if the month
