The final month of autumn already! Will it leave us with strong memories, good or bad? I know which I would prefer...

For the UK for 1st-30th November 2014 and going by the official Met Office station reports what/when will be:

- The first ice day (maximum temperature 0*C or below)              - The first night falling to or below -5.0*C

- The longest run of days with a minimum temperature of 0*C or below somewhere in the UK?

- The highest UK temperature?              - The lowest UK temperature?

- The rainfall as a percentage of the long term average?              - The sunshine as a percentage of the LTA?

Could I please have all entries by noon Saturday - a little later than normal because on Friday I'll be celebrating another year on this Earth and in no condition to accurately record your predictions.

As ever, good luck to all participants

Here we go then, it's November already!  Good luck everyone!

Happy birthday for yesterday SC!  Sorry, I didn't read all your OP because I was in such a hurry to get my guesses in.  Hope you had a good one!

Thanks for all the predictions - and the Birthday wish Caz

The maximum of 18.7*C at Writtle on 1st November will take some beating this month, in fact I'd be astounded if it was, given that the next mild weather will be from a week into the month and doesn't look nearly as pronounced.

In which case, it's well done to Rob for landing closest, scoring 1 point, while its 2 points for me and three for Schmee - nicely done

A real split in expectations for rainfall this month; we have four predictions for wetter than average, four for drier than average, and one for near average.

The vast majority have gone for below average sunshine, just two for above average.

Sorry to hear about the earache SC. A good start to the month, unless we have another ridiculous record breaking warm spell at some point, which I'd never rule out this year.

I agree Rob.  Never rule out record breakers as we have had quite a lot in the past few years.  It has felt much colder today though and more like November and no doubt the most seasonal month since summer.

Rescued from page 3!

I am a bit confused (it doesn't take much) as to why so many have predicted 'no ice days' this month, when there's already snow in the Scottish mountains.  Are there any official stations in those areas?

Good point Caz, but in mild weather the freezing level tends to be above 4000ft which is roughly height of Ben Nevis. Of course surface temps can stay below zero in cold or foggy weather, but I guess this needs favourable topography/surface conditions. But to be fair I just wasn't expecting any cold weather, which now may be completely wrong, we shall see.

Hmm.  Thanks Rob.  Well, as my guesses are just stabs in the dark, I'm not to be taken seriously.  If I get it right, I'm just lucky, or maybe I'm just long in the tooth and have lived through more seasons than most of you.

Just wondering if we've met or passed any of our categories yet?

I think I've well underestimated the rain this month.

The longest run of temperatures hitting 0*C or below somewhere in the UK is just 4, which is also lower than an average sort of November tends to bring.

For me this is hardly surprising though, given this is the second mildest November in my series going back to 2003. Yawn.

It looks like we'll get a frost tonight as the temp is already down to 2.4c, so I might be scraping my windscreen for only the second morning this month.

Another good frost this morning and it took a long time to clear in the shade.  The temp was down to -2 here at daybreak, so I wonder if somewhere managed -5c.

It's been a real cold, cloudy, dull and damp day here. November's finest on offer.
