It looks and feels, synoptically and in the way temperatures are leaping early, like a Halloween version of 10 August 2003. 19C here in SE London already

Currently holding steady at 16.8 C here on the coastal strip what with the gentle southerly wind wafting in from the Channel, but at least it's coming with clear skies and sunshine rather than our own version of haar!

Charlwood has now reached 22.5C. Date record blown to pieces. If this was tomorrow the November all time temperature record would have gone. I think we may well see something above 23C before the end of the afternoon.

Dewpoints falling but still rather high in the south, so there is still some potential for a little more condensional heating; I think this is essentially where its all coming from (in addition to the warm airmass) the sun will be having little effect in comparision. Keep in mind a minima of 17C was recorded last night in a few spots.

Certainly warm here in Bewdley at 20 °C, though sunshine has fallen short of what was forecast: virtually no sun until well into the afternoon, and even now it's very hazy.

Sneaked above the magic 20*C here today, warmest Birthday on record for me

What's really interesting to experience is the gentle nature of the sun's rays - hardly feels like anything but still keeps you nice and warm when the air temperature is so far above normal

- but there's no changing the fact that shadows are covering more than half of the surface now. A tall hedge in our garden restricted the sitting-out time to about 2 hours.
