My attention is now turning to the next possible date record.

We almost certainly won't break the record for the highest Nov 1 temperature tomorrow which is 19.7C. What is of more interest is a possible all time November highest minimum temperature record. This record is currently held by Eastbourne at 15.9C on 3 November 2005. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/climate-extremes/#?tab=climateExtremes

The question is can we get a station somewhere to stay at 16C or above overnight tonight. Seems possible given the cold front is not expected to clear the far south east until lunchtime tomorrow http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+24.gif

However, many locations in the SE have already dipped below 16C at some point today. Further west temperatures have held up under cloud cover all day. Many places in Wales and SW England have been above 16C constantly since 9z this morning. Problem is they will probably be west of the cold front before 9z tomorrow and hence fall back below 16C.

Best chance will be somewhere in Central Southern England on the Channel coast. Possible candidates at the moment include Swanage and St Catherine's Point for example. Further east Thorney Island has fallen well below 16C already so there is a narrow window along the Dorset and west Hampshire / Isle of Wight coast where we might set that November record. I suspect Swanage may be too far west by 09z so my money is on St Catherine's Point at the moment.

Yeah same here dude went out to grab party drinks a few hours ago and conditions were amazingly warm for here. Shame I'm too old for trick or treating now

It was dull and overcast all day in Stoke but it felt warm on the evening dog walk. A humid feel, most odd with all the trick and treaters around (and there were tons tonight!).

Just wished I could have seen some sun, particulary as the garden is so wet from the weeks of rain and I really need one last mow of the lawn. I noticed some flowers are still out though.

Temp had dropped to 16.1c but has shot up again to 16.7c. That will probably be our lot as the rain has just started. What an incredible shortlived spell of warmth.

Great to see the events of yesterday getting plenty of positive and well informed coverage in the digital media.  Just goes to show what an amazing weather event we have just experienced.  For me, as I have said, yesterday was one of the most extraordinary weather days in my experience.

Highest it got here was 18.6 c before dropping to 18.0c shortly after 1pm, nowhere near breaking the record around here probably down to the fact that it was a dreary day.

Can anyone find a higher reading or did we just miss out on the record?

Regardless, the diurnal mean there is an incredible 19.5*C!

Down here, a mean that high has only happened 3 times since the start of August - though of course it does tend to be cooler here than in London.

21.6c in South Glos yesterday. An amazing spell of weather. After last night's bit of drizzly stuff we now have crystal clear skies and sunshine again. Best bit is ever day of this eats a little bit further into autumn and then hopefully winter.

Even though temperatures levelled out at 18.6 C here at my little coastal location yesterday, that is still remarkable given the time frame, it felt wrong and yet so right how I wanted to wear a T shirt and shorts. Even my elderly mother, who tend to feel the cold, complained about how humid it felt and asked me to open the window for her.  

So, yes. I am appreciating this extended spell of warmth, especially now that I no longer work in a greenhouse. But (there is always a "but" with me), I've had to spend a fair bit of money on proper flea treatment and flea spray from the vet as the mild weather is causing the flea population to flourish courtesy of my kitty.

What would be interesting is if we see a similar trough over the US through this winter again with the odd PV migration? If the Invigorated Jet then ploughed north of us we'd have the chance of drawing in similar balmy airs throughout winter? There is a lot of heat in those equatorial oceans and all we need is a decent transport north for them!

For every sag south the PV makes surely we get an equal amount of warm air advected North? We just need to be under that air ( and south of the rain bands!!!).

I believe it was 21.7 C (71.0 F) in Prestatyn (Clwyd), on 4th, 1946 (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Dont really understand what he is beefing about. THere was a plume of very warm air over the country and in those situations some locations will always record a  higher temperature than others . I can find differences of maybe one or two degrees on different locations in a small area round here in certain weather conditions.
