Some remarkable warmth in France today. Already more than 21C in a number of locations including 23C at Biarritz, but maybe even more unusually it's warm well inland too - widely 18-19C including at continental Lyon. 15C uppers today.

BBC 10 day forecast for Toulouse:

But even more extreme is Santander on the North Spanish coast. 26C currently.

It's dire out there at the moment.

10*c moderate/heavy rain.

The tidal Ravensbourne at Lewisham has burst its banks and the centre is experiencing the worst flooding for, I'm told, 70 years. Traffic chaos.

Not hit any news yet - must be very localised. It's been pouring non stop for over 24 hours now.

Conditions here in Thanet are now utterly dire. Just cycled 2 1/2 miles to the office, via Tesco - the route is littered with prats and dickheads. In some places, the cycle lanes had become impassable due to deep scum drivers parking anywhere they want, so as not to get their pathetic little brain dead bonces wet.

It's dark, very wet, pouring with rain, yet still I counted dozens of knobjockeys with no lights on.

Can you tell I'm a little less than happy with the proceedings?

It's not over, until the fat Scandy sinks.....
