Yes I understand that you live in the snowiest area of the UK and it IS a lot snowier than here but the airmass on Friday was the same here as your place yet we did not record the same amount of snow at high altitudes. 


Today the air is very marginal and only sustains wet snow at above 300m so I was surprised that you have lying snow at only 200m.

We had an organised band of snow sat over us for 3 hours on Friday, we are at 274m not 200m.


Dew point today -2c all day, max temp 1c the reason we had no thaw.

Wow thats a lot cooler than here, it reached 7c yesterday and was 3c the day before so the snow on the hills did melt. It was 5c today so no snow here at low levels or higher up. 


Dew point is currently 2c.

Its like a completely different world. I guess the flip side is that you might not benefit too well from nordesters.

We are only 23 miles from the Moray Coast so we can do very well from a nordester.


Look at the map below, we managed a foot of snow from showers from the west to NW and we are over 100 miles from the west coast, so you can image what a North or NE flow does here
