Currently -2'c here and temps falling now, had clear skies all day with lots of snow on the ground its felt very cold, no thaw at all - more like the Alps (photo from High Bradfield across the valley from us and at 250m asl)

Its been fun but looking forward to an early UK Spring ;-)

Many of you will have heard of High Bradfield as it often records very high wind speeds!

Today was stunning in the Peak District. A drive to Buxton and back over the tops where there was several inches of snow glistening in the bright sunlight.

I've stuck some photos in this thread.

Memorable for the deep snow, clear blue skies with bright sun and a sunset I'll never forget.

Medlock Vale Weather
28 December 2014 22:02:26

-2.6C here, was -3.1C not too long ago but it's becoming misty, this usually happens here under an "inversion" so I doubt we will get as cold as this morning when we had brilliant clear blue sky. I reckon there could be some dense freezing fog by morning.

Ah, a classic GFS fail tonight... but with GFSP failing as well; minimums of -1*C predicted for most areas, currently -3*C to -6*C very widely across The South.

Of particular interest to me are 10pm reports of -3*C from just east of Portsmouth (Thorney Island), -4*C from Southampton and -5*C from Bournemouth Airport. Unusual for the South Coast in the absence of snow cover.

The frost hollow site, Benson, reported -6*C as of 10pm.

I'm already down to -3.7*C IMBY which makes it the coldest night of the year to date... with just three days left to go.
