Some notably low temperatures for the southwest last night. I see it got down to -3C at Culdrose in Cornwall, and -4C at Chivenor, right on the coast in Devon. Quite rare to get such a hard frost there.

I was staying at the in-laws in the Test Valley in Hampshire and it was -5C on the car thermometer when I left at 7.30 this morning. Beautiful 🙂

currently -2.1C here from a max of -0.3C so looking like another ice day before the milder air spreads in towards morning. last nights -4.8C is the lowest of the year for me with a nearby site getting -5.4C. My mum recorded -7.2 C in Highland Perthshire this morning which was her lowest this Winter.

1.4c and clear. Ground temperature below freezing so snow cover safe for now. Dont know why the temperature is holding up so much considering there is snow on ground. Lowest we have managed in this spell is -1.0c.

I would imagine somewhere in the Aire valley not far from you would have been at least -5C by now in this spell.

This is a good explanation of this weather phenomenon http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/reports/wxfacts/Frost-hollow.htm

Also a lot of people don't know that Altnaharra in Scotland is quite low down, it's something like 80m asl but records the coldest temps in the UK. Most likely because it is in a frost hollow valley near a river.
