Hard to believe I underestimated last year. Give the warmth and relative lack of rainfall so far this winter, the 1989/90 feel to things, the chance of a El Nino and nothing (I can see) to force temps down I'll go high again.

11C please.

Still time to make a prediction for 2015 if you want to take part. I am keeping this open until Monday evening.

Here are the predictions so far. I have amended some of them as we had a number of duplications. The first person who picked a particular figure gets to keep it. Anyone who subsequently picked the same figure as had their prediction amended to the nearest available figure.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm going for a cool guess. Every hot year recently seems to be followed by a cold one.

Here is the September update. Biggest anomaly of the year in September. I have switched the anomaly chart to the 1981-2010 mean. This shows that every month bar April has been below average this year.

We are now almost 0.5C below average for the year compared to the 1981-2010 mean. Fifth coldest first nine months of the year since 1987 (1991, 1996, 2010 and 2013 were colder)
