Now, does anyone else think this is a bit of an over-reaction? I mean, yes the floodwater appears to reach halfway up the wheels of a trolley (), but surely a few early shoppers getting their feet damp walking through what is essentially a large puddle, doesn't warrant four crews from three stations, a RIB and at least one paramedic attending. Shoddy journalism from the BBC saying shoppers were 'stranded'. Thankfully, the paramedic checked everyone out and there were no injuries. Not even mild trenchfoot....

Just 17.0mm here so far. Almost exactly the same as the total for the first 22 days of last December (17.6mm) before the rain set in to ruin a third successive Christmas period.

We've had nowt more than the odd bit of patchy drizzle in the last couple of days over here on the east of the Pennines, and yet this morning the Ouse is on the verge of flooding with all the rain that has been falling upstream in the Dales.

Yes a dry month here with 44mm which is not much more than half the usual.
The year total is 891.8mm which is just 8mm above normal.

Final total here for December was 49mm, near enough average for us.  Interesting though, that there were only 6 days that were properly wet, and almost all of the rainfall after the 16th came from the Boxing Day event which delivered 21mm.

2014 has ended up a very wet year here though, with a grand total of 803mm (About 140% of our annual average).
In fact, just checked my rainfall records, and it's been the second wettest year I've ever recorded (going back to 1982).  That really did surprise me.  Only 2012 was wetter with 979mm.

Just 40.5mm for me in December. It was the driest December since 2010.

Total rainfall for 2014 was 850.8mm. Second wettest year since moving to my current location in late 2005. Only 2012 was wetter (much wetter).
