Talk about extremes of weather.

@6am it's

-0.2C at Thorney with partly cloudy skies. It's been a freezing night.

6.4C with rain at Solent. It's been mild night with temps well above freezing.

Crazy when considering these are both low level locations on the coast with just 12 miles separating them.

Woke up to clear skies and a widespread air frost at 6.30 am this morning.

High cloud is slowly filling in the sky and there are some cumulus hanging over the Channel as I type but is still bright with some sunshine.

Currently 1.3 C with 92% humidity under calm wind, from a low of 0.9 C at 7.45 am.

A white frost this morning, but then a light (sleety?) shower at about 0900. Presumably this was the cause of the considerable disruption on the Petersfield - Haslemere stretch of railway, with ice forming on the third (conductor) rail unexpectedly
