Tell you what is different about this windy spell when compared to this time last year is how there is hardly any rain, just the occasional spitty drizzle blowing about in the air - and thus there are being much less in the way of flooding issues this time round.

Quite surprised the Met O don't have a warning out for strong winds in the south this evening. Utterly awful here at the moment with wheelie bins flying down the street and trees looking as though they may snap.

Wind gradually decreasing in strength here. Not as strong as Met office forecast originally for this area of N. E. Somerset.

Some people walk in the rain.
Others just get wet.

Another stormy night as the second storm went through. Not much sleep again with the trees outside roaring and the roof creaking and groaning. We are in the colder air now so snow showers soon. I'm driving down to the Midlands for the weekend!

Winds are now gusting at over 100mph at low levels in the far north. Lerwick has had a 101mph gust within the last hour and mean speeds are around 70mph.

Alex Salmond coming to Westminster would get a Red warning!

But seriously, I was surprised there wasnt one with 100mph gusts forecast. Perhaps because hardly anyone lives there, they dont think its important enough
