Medlock Vale Weather
20 January 2015 23:20:36

The snow started a bit before 7pm. Never got particularly heavy - on a scale of 1-5 (1 very light, 5 very heavy), it alternated between 2 and 3 for a while, before dwindling to 1, then stopping altogether. No covering.

There's that huge mass of heavy PPN sat playing with its own arse in the middle of the Irish Sea, not moving for the last few hours. FFS, just move eastwards!!

You know how some people were referring to the front pivoting, and under that pivot would likely get hours of snow? Well, the pivot is going on, but most of it will be falling harmlessly into the Irish Sea.  Actually, Dublin seems to be getting hammered. Anyone tell me if it's rain or snow?

Moderate snow here now and about 3cms of cover, so I'm out of here and heading South.

I'm getting the impression that what fell for most in the 'snow zone' has now started to fizzle and decay into a sleety mix, except at higher elevations.
I think my money is safe for now

Unfortunately it probably won't last so don't blink too hard!

If I had of blinked in the last few mins I would have missed the very brief shower that just passed over which contained some Graupel! but it was very brief, not sure it quite counts as a snow event tho

We`ve now had another 20mm of rain in the past 24hrs and this January, certainly here is very similar to last year.

The outlook is more of the same, for the foreseeable future there is absolutely NO sign of cold at all.

Well, here we are again. Still no snow, just cold and wet. Didn't even bother to see how much rain we had overnight.

It started well last night light snow instantly sticking to all surfaces then temp and DP rose and a slight thaw set in. The crappy scene outside is  one which these parts have come accustomed to over the last 4 winters, enough said.

Not a single flake for 2 years here. Much preferred last winter to this one so far. At least the river burst its banks properly and the garden fence blew down as reminders that there really had been a change of season.

It snowed IMBY from just before 7pm last night to around 8.30pm then stopped. The snow was never heavy, and left no covering.

It looks like a little more of something fell during the night, but whether rain, sleet or snow I'm not sure, and it wasn't much

On the way to Manchester this morning, a few miles east of MBY, it started drizzling. As I got closer to Manchester, this turned heavier & to sleet.

That was as good as it got.

This supposed 'cold spell' has been absolutely rubbish here.

Still no snow here though it wasn't really forecast I was still hoping it might of been wrong, still got feb to come,so whether the cold with snow does arrive remains to be seen, keep on watching the charts, reading the discussions and lamp post watching, also looking at the pics from Sheffield with envy.
