Chilly one tonight. Just got off the train at Farnborough. WeatherOnline says -5.7C at midnight. Not as cold as Benson at -7.4C!

Very cold again this morning. Had to de-ice padlocks in the car park with boiling water and extract bolts from the ground using the same process. Icing has also played havoc with external security beams overnight as they activate due to rime deposition.

A min of +0.2c last night here, so looks like the lowest temps in the south.

My two closest Met Office stations are Odiham and Farnborough. They hit -7.9 and -7.5 respectively. Quite rare for Odiham to be colder on frosty nights as it is a lot higher whereas Farnborough is in a frost hollow. My car thermometer on the driveway only reached -4C when I switched it on at 7.30 though.

Even Heathrow hit a respectable -8.2C - not bad for a spot close to London with no snow! Benson reached -8.7C with -13C on the grass.

Fell to -7.0C here in Welwyn Garden City last night. Coldest night of the winter so far and much colder than anything we experienced here last winter.

We got down to -1.1c which is really quite low for a south west coast location but what surprised me was the frost and ice this morning. I don't normally see much frost living right above the water.

Managed a highly respectable -5.6c...wasn't expecting temperatures to dip quite so low.

A low of -5.8c here.

-6C at 6am this morning, that at the lowest level by Frome river, coming up into the town was 2 degrees milder, our coldest night so far this winter.

Benson was not quite the coldest location this morning.

Upper Lambourn reached -8.8C. This is the coldest temperature of the winter so far in England.
