Temperatures hadn't got any lower than 2.7 C under overcast skies last night and a frost did not take a hold here at my coastal location, thus rounding off this mediocre "cold spell".

Strangely we stayed above freezing until about 6am then the wind seemed to get up and it's bitter now at -1C and with windchill is -7

Real hard frost this morning -8 according to my neighbour with the working thermometer

Went out for a walk and lots of frost about and even ice too. I haven't seen ice in my neighbourhood for about 4 years. The fountain in the gardens below me which is only a few metres from the water has a layer of ice this morning! Temperatures are now rising and already above zero.
