Spotted lightning in snow shower stream hitting Teesside just now - to our north.

To highlight the convective potential tonight is justified.
Some parameters suggest fairly deep convection possible aided by steep thermal gradient and forcing from shallow trough moving W to E across the South overnight.

Already sferics in some areas and a scatter of returns in the SW approaches.

Another "mini tornado" reported in Haverfordwest this evening (although unconfirmed if this is a genuine tornado).

Also reports of golf ball size hail

Any damage will probably improve the place.

Another potential tornado in Cornwall last night:

'A large trampoline had also been catapulted four houses down the street'

Sounds like it could of been a 3 on the 'trampoline intensity' scale

Already a few sferics being picked up to the North-West - Given the low pressure, cold uppers and warmer seas I expect a few favoured places may see thundery activity in the next week

Hail storm here as the cold front has arrived!

Would be good to be across east Suffolk and Essex at the moment. Quite a violent look to that cold front now with attendant bowing

Hard to concentrate above the hum of the Folkestone Rain Deflector.

Has been dull with near constant drizzle blowing along in a strong south westerly wind so far today. However, there is still the main squall line off to my north west but I suspect the southern tip may lose it's punch by the time that arrive here in an about an hours time.

Yep, had a thunderstorm here, with several loud rumbles and gusty wind, plus hail and sleet. Quietening down now.

After seeing reports of "monsoon conditions" over Maidstone and then onto Ashford 10 minutes later on my facebook feed, I was bracing myself for the onslaught in about 10 to 15 minutes time as I watched the feature march ominously south east wards across South Kent . . .

. . . and then the squall line instantly ran out of steam when it came within spitting distance of Folkestone. Just a bit of a shower and some blustery wind and now I am seeing clear skies taking over.

Hail and thunder and lightning near the Suffolk coast as the front went through. It was loud and close enough for me to run for cover!

There were plenty of reports of thunder yesterday evening in conjunction with snow across Yorkshire especially.

Today is the same with more thundersnow reports from various locations
