Just had a heavy rain shower - became icy rain and ice pellets before becoming lighter - only lasted around 15 minutes. Bit of a deja-vu of last cold spell which only brought icy rain but it's only the beginning and showers are moving in and sweeping through very quickly as you can see on below rainfall radar:

Would it not be great if that could be a "precipitation type" radar? I am sure they did this a few years ago then stopped it!? - Was it some sort of trial?

2°C dry and mostly clear with a fresh westerly wind.

No snow and not likely to be any for a few days despite the weather warning IMO (unless the wind switches to more of a NWly)

Light snow showers are racing through but the wind is keeping things a degree or so above freezing and the result is slight dampness which rapidly dries off.
With the wind essentially north westerly we will only get flurries here.

Was an interesting morning in Stoke. Some intense rain showers really driving in the strong winds. Was mild when I left on the dog walk, by the time I'd finished the cold front had rattled through.
