After what has been a miserable and bleak morning with cold rain and sleet, it is now brightening up with the sun trying to break through.

For the past few weeks it has been setting right behind that big square building.  Its now blinding me as its to the right of it, and still setting.


 


Im in line for a stella sunset here.  A few clouds remain off to the far west where theres a few over Wales.


 


Otherwise we are setting up for a very frosty night

Only heavy rain here, I think all the forecasters overplay the snow and temperature potential. This winter I've never been convinced about any real cold spell except for the odd sleety shower.

Hi, Ian! A fine winter's day here - plenty of sunshine, light northerlies and a max. of 4C Overnight low was -6.6C Pressure continuing to rise - now at 1013mb. Good luck with the showers and you find yourself on the right side of that knife edge!

Hi John! After that nice bit of brightness at around noon time, it has been generally wet for the rest of the day with a mixture of cold rain/sleet/wet snow showers and the occasional clear breaks.
   As a result, I've ended up with 7 mm of rain today. If it was just a degree or two colder . . .
