That's a camellia (a relative of the tea bush). My parents' next door neighbours have one very similar which has been in bloom since Christmas in north Devon.
Meanwhile here in northeast Hampshire spring colour is in very short supply. The grass still has that dull colour after a couple of brief coverings of snow a few days ago, and apart from the snowdrops and a few early crocuses, the only thing in flower is the ubiquitous gorse.
