Fine and sunny at the moment. A shame that it'll go downhill from here with strong winds expected for tonight. Oh well, that's Spring in the UK for you.

Here in the Brecon Beacons, not far from Crickhowell, it's howling a gale out there with some roaring gusts.

Such a shame that no amount of forecasting ability permits a rescheduling of holiday bookings at just 10 days notice... I'd have put this back by a week!

Hilbre island just off West Kirby recently recorded a 60 knot gust.

This feels the stormiest it's been for a long time - our house is being buffeted and rattled. Winds very gusty and seem stronger than raw speeds on paper.
