Made it fairly broad to avoid getting the thread locked. Snow showers are likely in parts of the NW tomorrow, down to very low levels in the far NW, and perhaps some sleetiness even into parts of Northern England. At this time of year solar heating means the showers have oomph, in them so all kinds of things could be falling from the sky tommorow for those exposed to the NWerly wind. The same is true for Wednesday. Wednesday night will be bitterly cold as winds fall slack under an arctic airmass. I think somewhere will reach negative double digits in the shelter of the highlands; unusual for this time of year. -2s and -3s could be fairly widespread into northern England, with a rural ground frost to all but the far south and SW. Thursday is interesting, a system moves in from the south west, bringing initially rain to parts of the SW, however as the system gathers from the west and affects more northern areas, it will start to turn to snow as it meets the very cold dry air to the north. As the LP moves across central areas evaoprational cooling could turn the precipatation to snow, I recon somewhere will wake up with a blanket of snow on Friday morning. There is even a possibility that as the system clears to the south, a few snow flakes may fall in the home counties.

A very interesting week!

Quantam , I drove from Yorkshire to Edinburgh yesterday afternoon (Mon) and encountered heavy sleet over Shap Fell and parts of the M6/M74. As I climbed up out of Moffat towards The Devil's Beeftub I was soon at the snowline and drove through a blizzard with a couple of inches on the road...quite tricky! Sleet back down in Edinburgh but the Pentlands were white. Snow level was 300m . .though you'd like to know!

Gusty winds blowing around all manner of wintry stuff. Including snowflakes but mainly sleety stuff and hail. Rather miserable tbh and not great weather for all the farms up here who are just starting lambing. Feels below zero in the wind which is biting when it really goes for it.

The showers have increasingly turned into snow as the day as progressed. One minute it's lovely blue skies and sunshine, the next it's black as night and snow blowing around like a blizzard.

Sleet and wet snow in the last shower. Very light dusting above 500m. The winds gusts were really really strong throughout. It was amazing seeing the snow zooming by above my head.

Even I've seen some sleety snow flakes today in the showers. Recon a covering is easily possible as the temps drop tonight and the cold air digs in for the lucky few.

Been some frequent heavy, squally showers with hail and sleet mixed in along with gale force winds.

This event I'm guessing is a purely northern thing...?? down here we've managed 14C with plenty of strong spring sunshine... Windy though.

Frequent squally showers of rain, hard hail, soft hail, sleet and snow with a rumble of thunder and rainbows! The wind has been relentless with huge gusts raising spray on the Forth...great fun on Britannia today in Leith Harbour!

We have missed the majority of the showers here but the wind is both strong and chilly.

There is currently a very large line of cumulus out to the north and it seems to be a real wintry mix. Some of the local forecasts are suggesting a risk of a dusting of snow on low ground in these parts. Naturally the hills and to the NW have and will see more.

Sideways snow shower just whizzed through. Amazing cloudscapes as they clear. Must be really nasty on Pennines when they pass over.

Heavy snow squalls this afternoon accompanied by violent gusty winds, wind chill has been vicious and apparent temp is even lower as humidity is quite low between showers. At 16:15 it was just +1.9C during a shower

Looked liked a touch of sleet on the windscreen in a heavy shower late afternoon. You could see the curtains of precipitation descending from the cloud - a pretty sight!

Yes Nick a waste as it's so late in season.

Some impressive snow showers yesterday giving blizzard conditions at times but little settled, if it had been 6 weeks ago the effects would have been impressive.

This certainly has been a winter dominated by north westerly PM winds but I have seen better spells of cold zonality.
