Incredible day here today and I spotted this Horse Chestnut that is not only in full leaf but also in flower!

I didn't need to walk to this road today but I did because its such a lovely sun trap and I always enjoy walking along there when its sunny. Maybe because its so warm there that's why this tree is so advanced.

Photogenic weather - nice to see people taking advantage with great pics!

I'd also seen wild strawberries on Sunday at Fritham, and bluebells, but we haven't got as far as horse chestnut in flower.

Local daffs lasted really well through a coldish March, but these last few days have made them go over.

They are really coming through now picturesareme! When I looked at my other photos I noticed there were flowers on those trees too, but I didn't notice them when I was out. And I've seen more today too. Just need the other trees to get in leaf now and we are back to everything looking lovely and green again.

I've seen a fare number of birch trees now in leaf,  cherry, plum, and apples are in leaf. Also nice to the maple trees with new growth.

Those Horse Chestnut trees are much further on than they are here in the East Midlands.  We are just starting to see green on them, although once they do start to burst buds, they don't take long at all.

The Blackthorn along the hedgerows is now in blossom here.  It's often mistaken for Hawthorn, but the difference is, Blackthorn blossoms on a bare stem before the leaf, whereas Hawthorn blossoms after the leaf and is a little later.  There's a green tinge to the hedgerows now and the Oil Seed Rape is starting to flower in the fields.

The leaf is really starting to show on our trees now and my plum tree has started to blossom.

Everything seems to have greened up overnight here and the oil seed rape fields now have that lovely golden glow.  My mum's plum, pear and cherry trees are in blossom and the apple trees are at the pink bud stage.

More spring flowers seen out and about yesterday -  lady's smock (aka cuckoo flower), jack-by-the -hedge and honesty. Should expect the cuckoo himself this coming week.

Just don't kill the tree by tapping wrong or over doing.

A very informative video :)

Opened my window wide to the sweet smell of 'freshly tilled sunbaked soil and dry vegetation in still air' this evening - try selling that as a deodorant .

For reasons that feel somewhat primal, it's one of my favourite scents, enjoyed very much on still evenings after a run of dry days with strong sunshine. Arguably, the smell of fine weather, although it tends not to really get going until the sun is low in the sky.

Also, it tends to get masked by pollen by late summer, not that I can smell anything much by then anyway

The cherry trees along the shoreline appear to have all been grafted at some point... However these late flowering trees have put out an amazing mix of colours...
