I've been watching developments over my patch and points to the West the last couple of hours as Altocumulus Castellatus is present in the sky and lo and behold sferics and rain are now reported in a narrow band stretching from North Devon to the Mendips.

To my north I can make out some anvils too.. there have been some heavy showers breaking out across the South Downs in the past hour.

Not surprising given there is a cold front just to the north with +20C heat just to the south of it.

Gave a few spots only in Peasedown St John. Was doing a bit of potting up on the patio then.

Some people walk in the rain.
Others just get wet.

It's seems strange how empty this thread has been this April lol.

Well anyway there are some beefy showers flirting with the southern coast now with a few sferics being detected in the channel and north France.

The sky here has turned increasingly convective looking with a few splashes of rain in the past hour.

Looks like a band of storms has run from the Channel Islands E/NE across the north of France...
Could it perhaps be clipping the far southeast of kent in the next few hours??

Currently here in Portsmouth it's raining with big rain drops, summer type drops, the heaviest stuff since February. Feels milder then the 14C the thermometer says with no noticeable wind.

Right now I'm experiencing only light rain, bringing out that scent of petrichor as we've not had any real rain for quite a while.
