Despite the strong sunshine today, there was a chill in the air for sure.

Great pictures from Richard, that's more snow than I've seen since December 2010😂

This is why Spring is my favourite season, so many contrasting days though this week is rather unusual for the time of year but not unheard off.

I get the distinct impression with these well below temperatures, especially here in London, we are in for a very long period of below average daytime temperatures, maybe lasting well through May, with no proper sustained sign of a warm up . With several exceptions, the temperatures here in the SE have been below average for months now. Maybe this is a portent for a much cooler than average summer? Gavin Partridge implies a potentially cooler summer for 2015...

I would say that it has been a very warm month in london!

Though to be fair, it was below average yesterday (for the second time in the past 20 days)

Got down to -5.1c here last night which damaged my Oleander plants

Max today just 5.0c with wintry showers this evening, however, heavy snow showers in Carlisle area recently has left snow lying down to 300feet!

After the 19c of last week this week is a real shocker.

A heavy wet snow shower has just passed through Sheffield after a few lighter ones this morning. No settling, well at my height of 150m but a surprise to see so late in the

Radio Manchester traffic reports were talking about snow affecting the Snake & Woodhead Passes this morning - but neither the Flash Bar Stores nor Cat & Fiddle cams are showing anything.

One of my clients in Lanark says it was like a blizzard walking into work this morning.

Another night with temperatures having dipped to -5°C in places. Chilly for May (as is the maxima of 7°C and 6°C for here over the next couple of days.)

The BBC forecast a few minutes ago highlighted the blizzards forecast for the Scottish hills tomorrow as a warning for any walkers. Today looks like a much better day and should be good for the ski centres that are still open.

-1.4C here last night beating my previous May low of -1.3C on 7th May 2012. Also the 4th year out of 7 that May has recorded a lower temperature than April.

Tomorrow looks a dire day and in with a chance of beating my record low May max of 6.3C on 17th May 2012
