A rough extrapolation of the max temps here using GFS:

Tuesday: 24C
Wednesday: 25C
Thursday: 30C
Friday: 30C
Saturday: 30C
Sunday: 30C
Monday: 27C

We haven't had 4 consecutive days above 30C since August 1995.

I've always countenanced caution with these kinds of set-ups when it's still a few days off. But I did buy a couple more pedestal fans today before they all disappear.

There's a list of hottest temps for each day of the year here, if you want to do some sorting...

I've noticed the Trafalgar fountain and Hyde park sunbather pictures tend to happen at the start of heatwaves, and the packed Bournemouth / Brighton beach shot happens at the end, usually on the last Sunday.

Max temps so far during this "warm spell".

Thurs: 26C (Gravesend)
Fri: 28C (Gravesend)
Sat: 25C (Heathrow)

To be continued...

Gravesend always does well in Westerlies and SSW flow. Heathrow / Wisley is best in Southerlies and South Easterlies, Cheltenham / Worcester / Pershore in Easterlies, Cambridge / Norwich in due SWerlies, and Central London in strong sun with little or no wind.

There's been a lot of focus on the potential for breaking the high temperature record here this week (which now looks very unlikely) but interestingly the current charts are forecasting temperatures close to the all time French record of 44.1
It will be interesting to see if that falls this week as it was only set in 2003.
Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.

This link to the De Bilt forecast in the Netherlands shows that next Saturday there is a 55% probability of the temperature reaching 34C or more and about a 13% chance of the temperature exceeding 36C.

The highest temperature recorded at De Bilt since 1901 is 36.8C on 27 June 1947

Anyone else fancy a go at predicting the daytime highs for this working week at their closest station? I'll have a go at mine:

Filton:

Mon: 21c

Tues: 24c

Weds: 26c

Thurs: 22c

Fri: 25c

Based on what is currently showing, I'd say..

Monday: 21C
Tuesday: 27C
Wednesday: 30C
Thursday: 25C
Friday: 26C

The Beeb are now showing a high of 30C on Wednesday - unusual for them given their cautious approach to anything out of the ordinary.
