Well signs the pressure is rising...

Clear blue skies now, signalling dryer air, and the arrival of higher pressure.

Temp wise I'm not expecting this to be anything noteworthy in my neck on the woods. At best 25-27C and if the wind can back more E/NE maybe 28-29C.

I appreciate this is likely to be a heatwave I note for some, and possibly bring some of the highest temperatures for years to the UK..

however for myself...,

The only thing that might be of note will be tomorrow nights forecasted lol of 20C, but again this has happened a few times over recent years and temps have managed to drop into high teens...

and in fact a late surge from Gravesend took it up to 26.7C today, or 80.1F. We may be metric these days but I always think 80F is the start of proper hot weather, just as 70F is "warm". I'm pretty confident we'll see the 90F "phew wot a scorcher" level reached too :)

NAVGEM going for a max of 37C Weds in the eastern UK:

I'd have gone lower today and higher on Wed. Given that the 850s are 10-11C lower today than Wed. 

I think it is likely that these temperatures are somewhat overdone. If that chart came off the national record in Belgium of 38.8C would be blown away by >40C temperatures.

It's NAVGEM. It's toilet paper. It was predicting highs in the 40s across parts of England a few days back, and widely high 30s

I really hope not!! I had been envisioning a nice long walk in blazing heat, but the forecast for Wednesday here is looking seriously dodgy now with the potential for cloud and clag from the word go. I've got everything crossed that it holds off for as long as possible.  

That'll be the sand ....and I don't mean a beach! 

I really think Saturday is the one to watch out for. The models have been trending to delay that LP incursion, if we can keep the plume going through Saturday then I think we could see 36C easily. 

Glorious cloudless start to the morning. Although last night was still fresh at 11c, given that 26 - 27c was achieved across the South with patchy cloud its game on today. Already up to around 16c here, with the first 20c measurements popping up now at 0740.

Just the usual heat health watches they issue when the temperature is due to get above 31c over a 24 hour period. Tells grown adults that you should drink fluids when it's hot and stay out of the direct sun etc

Already a fraction under 17c here. That's 2c above forecast high for 8am. If that manifests at peak time we could get close to 30c today. 

I think the reason for this is it was forecast to be largely cloudy here until late morning, but it's absolute wall to wall sunshine. Literally not a cloud in the sky

They are not on the normal 'weather warnings' page if that is where you were looking. They are issued on health grounds rather than primarily damage/disruption as are the other warnings so they in a different place.
