Glad this has made decent inroads North. Was starting to feel ever so slightly bad at enjoying decent summer's weather whilst so many compatriots were under a cloud.

Todays 29c here was a noticeable step up from the 24s and 25s being logged though. I think sunny Reigate will get a 32 tomorrow and with a fair wind I stand by my max of 36 prediction for somewhere in the South East.
Location: Reigate, Surrey 105m ASL

Winter 22/23
Days snow falling: 4
Days snow on ground:8
Max snow depths: 6cm (December 19th ish)

Summer 2022 max 39C on July 19th
Summer 2021 max: 32C on July 18th
Summer 2020 max: 36C on July 31st

We maxed out a mere fraction under 30c here. Amazing feeling day.

Fergusson tweeting today will be the hottest day in these parts. Different forecast to yesterday. Still going to be very warm though

Looks like 30.4C may have been the high, with both Kew and Northolt reaching that figure.

Add 5C to that tomorrow I think.

Blackpool Airport did rather well with 29.9C

Pershore also managed 29.9C

Met Office Twitter feed saying 35C possible tomorrow

A very brisk easterly wind has picked up in London which is why temperatures fell here in recent hours. Walking across the bridge over the Thames to Waterloo, it was rather refreshing in the breeze. Hardly noticed the humidity.

Top French temp today seems to be Cazaux, near Bordeaux, at 39.9C.

But down in Iberia the temperatures have been lower than in recent days. Cordoba maxed out at 39.4C, but the highest was on Sunday at 43.7C. Still some way off the Spanish record of 47.2C though.

Brisk ENE'ly together with clouds moving from the SW puts me in mind of 11/12 July 1982.

Wondering if we may get a big storm overnight.....

 SYNOPSIS

An upper ridge is amplifying over Central and Western Europe, flanked by two troughs at its eastern and western periphery. An exceptionally hot airmass at the base of an elevated mixed layer will be advected from Iberia across Western France into the Southern UK. Over Eastern Europe, rather cool mid-tropospheric temperatures will contribute to weak to moderate CAPE and an abundance of diurnally-driven thunderstorms.

The current batch over IOW/S Hants formed out of nothing an hour ago, they are a little ahead of the decaying remnants of the CI storms from earlier.

Very strange and eerie, they're like mini popcorn storms.
Very little rain is hitting the ground and just the odd flash of lightning
