So we actually got to 33C, not 30.4C why isn't this being reported as the highest UK temp?

22C in London now?! That's nearly a 6 degree drop in 1 hour! What a difference an easterly wind makes.

Perhaps it's to do with the humidity? Dryer air cools & heats quicker.

29.3°C was the high here.

19.6°C currently.

Spent the day at the cricket before the wife called and heard the background noise and realised where I was. Home I trudged after the tea interval...

Forgot that the other thread is for July and we are still in June. Anyway heavy rain now falling here accompanied by thunder. Temperature still 22.7C. Classic summer storm setup.

Had a few flashes of lightning and one audible rumble of thunder, and a brief spell of rain. Not much but quite unexpected.

This was about 20 minutes ago.

Currently 20.5 C and 70% humidity and it feels very close indoors, I had windows open to try and take advantage of that brisk south east breeze but all I've been getting was that toxic in-your-face stench of skunk wafting into my room. M'eh.

Theta E readings off the scale in northern England tomorrow evening

You can see why Estofex has issued a level 2 warning. Could be very interesting indeed.

Here is the humidex chart ("feels like" temperature) for late tomorrow afternoon (in the south) and early tomorrow evening (further north). A very pleasant 39C across the spine of England from Kent up towards Carlisle!

Why the warning? Well, I'm sat in nothing but my smegs   Don't worry, none of the outside lights are on and my garden isn't overlooked. Just sat here in the warmth and quiet watching the stars in the fading twilight and wishing it could always be like this.

Ideal conditions outside, shame I work nights and miss it (though I guess I can be outside during the heat of the day instead). Having just got back from Magaluf where it was 35C on Monday, it felt great not to get off the plane here and feel cold!
