Temperatures responding quickly from low of 14c earlier, now up to 19c. Anyone else noticed that a good proportion of the recording sites on XCweather's temperature page seemed to have vanished (melted) overnight? Very strange...

Also seems interesting that the heat island effect has had little impact on nighttime minima. I presume that's a symptom of the imported nature of the heat? If so, I suspect that'll change tonight. Going to be an uncomfortable night in central London tonight.

27C in London and it isn't even 9am yet. There is potential here for 37C if nothing interrupts the heating (although I think increased moisture later will retard it).

2023/2024 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):
29/11 (-6), 30/11 (-6), 02/12 (-5), 03/12 (-5), 04/12 (-3), 16/01 (-3), 18/01 (-8), 08/02 (-5)

Total: 8 days with snow/sleet falling.

2022/2023 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

18/12 (-1), 06/03 (-6), 08/03 (-8), 09/03 (-6), 10/03 (-8), 11/03 (-5), 14/03 (-6)

Total: 7 days with snow/sleet falling.

2021/2022 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

26/11 (-5), 27/11 (-7), 28/11 (-6), 02/12 (-6), 06/01 (-5), 07/01 (-6), 06/02 (-5), 19/02 (-5), 24/02 (-7), 30/03 (-7), 31/03 (-8), 01/04 (-8)
Total: 12 days with snow/sleet falling.

Heathrow is at 13C Dpt, which is certainly higher than yesterday but during the 03 heatwave dpts were generally around 16-18C on the hottest days. The 20th was a notable exception where Heathrow started around the current levels but then dived to 7C in the middle of the day.

Pocket of 22C put my name on it at midday and other one in around Oxfordshire so we still have chance to see highest max by early afternoon.  The one in 2003 that reached 38.6C here was at 5pm.

MBY got to 30.4c yesterday. The sensor isn't in a screen, so that's not accurate, but with nearby places also getting 29c/30c, I'd say that's not far off.

Last night the min was 19.8c

Min temp in the bedroom was 25.2c. I slept like a log.

30.4C in Chessington and 30.7C in Iver at 9.30am so if things go well hope to see 37-38C today under the pocket of 22C uppers at midday over here.

Edit: 31C now in Iver.

Thunderstorm risk appears low for the SE corner. Hopefully the sun will hang on into the afternoon and give us a July record.

Are the temps on this meto observation map the official locations? 27.5* here with that nice breeze still...thankfully!! But that's off my weather station, I'm near Gravesend on that Meto map and it says 26*c at 9am so prob between the two is correct for now.

35C is certainly achievable at Heathrow.

Can't see anything like round here though (currently 30C) as the wind has picked up quite a bit and will likely take the edge off the temperature.
