Cheers Gavin P. Looks like there's something to look forward to. This past 3 weeks has been really quite wet in my part of the country with the fields so wet now that mud is being dragged into the roads by farm vehicles. Its not been this wet for well over 18 months now.

Let me try and clear it up for you.

The CFS six month look-ahead is just s "snap shot" look at the next six months from the CFS Vs model, nothing more. Nothing less.

The Cool January/El Nino thing in today's winter update is information that's been produced looking at all past El Nino winters back to 1800. When you look at these winters, January, on average, comes out as the coldest month of the winter (though not necessarily colder than average) but of course you'll always get years that deviate anyway.

I think the main thing to take away from today's video (was a bit complicated today and I probably didn't do an especially good job at explaining it) is that on average El Nino winters tend to get cold the further along we go - Which is quite widely known anyway.
