Here's the week ahead forecast video;

http://www.gavsweathervids.com/

Here's the Written version;

http://www.gavsweathervids.com/written.html

High pressure dominates this week. Loads of dry weather on the way but as always, not entirely that straight forward.

Will have the fifth winter 15/16 update tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that.

Thanks as always for your support.

Edit: Here's the Fifth Winter 15/16 update:

Thanks guys.

These scenarios where high pressure just moves around day by day are probably my least favourite to forecast. Find them very difficult.

Hi all,

Here we go then: Fifth Winter 2015/16 Update;

Looking at Oceans and Siberian Snow Cover specifically today. I have quite a bit on the "cold blob" but looking at the Atlantic and Pacific together it''s clear we're in "uncharted territory" to some some degree this autumn/winter season.

Will add this to the winter updates page later with written summary if you can't watch the video.

Good stuff Gav and nice seeing the Atlantic charts for 84, puts to bed the nonsense spouted about the current little blob of cold.

Tak a look at the snow cover in western Russia on the latest image:

An interesting winter coming up for sure, even if we cannot possibly know at this stage whether it will be mild or cold in our neck of the woods.

New world order coming.

Thanks guys!

Snow cover really "shot up" on Saturday in W. Russia didn't it? Was annoying that I waited until 10:30pm for chart to update for Saturday but eventually I just had to get on with it.

I'm going to do a "follow up" to fifth winter 15/16 update on Blog tonight, looking at the huge increase in snow cover that occurred on Saturday.

Happy birthday Gavin for next Weekend

I hope this winter is exceptional for the cold and snow - please not a repeat of the exceptional Atlantic driven winter of 2013-14

Thanks for the update Gavin. I read it update yesterday and forgot to post my thanks. Interesting that the Atlantic cold SST's are continuing. An El Nino of at least 2.0c looks odds on too. Close comparison to 2009 and I await the growth of the Scandinavian snow cover with interest .

Hey Nouska,

Someone did point it out actually. Many thanks.

EDIT: Those composites may feature in an update next month.
