This is actually the first time one of my record threads has resulted in a monthly record being broken!

I have been doing reasonably well with bright sunshine for most of the day here at Folkestone harbour even though temperature maxed out at 15.4 C.

But then suddenly in the past hour, thick dense fog rolled in from the sea and it's now all murky and clammy at this end. Seems a bit out of place given it is usually associated with warm moist air travelling over cold sea surface - and yet the Strait of Dover is supposed to be still warm at 14 C.

Good to see the record fall - although as it's been foggy all day here with a high of just 13.1C, it feels like a world away!

It's quite funny, really; in what's been a remarkably average year overall, we've had two all-time month high temperature records broken.

Great news. The funny thing is that most of these monthly records are getting beaten with ease. We truly are living in warming times.

Touched 16.2C here, it's interesting to note this was equalled in early November 2010, which also features the lowest November temperature of -10.7C

Great to hear that the record has been broken.

Good on ya Quantum for starting this thread! It has been a fantastic weather day today. I hesitate to say 'autumnal' because it really hasn't felt like autumn today!

Yes, nice call on this one Q.

I have just got in from a walk in the countryside and I have to say in terms of pleasantness this is the best November day that I could wish for. Light winds, sunshine, beautiful colours and feeling pleasantly mild.

How cool (as so to speak) would it be if we go onto breaking cold temperature records come the winter months. Highly improbable, of course . . . but . . . you never know.

Yeah good call Q, I wouldn't be surprised if the first half of November is the warmest on record too and by some distance, given how remarkable the synoptics are.

Great to see the record broken.

Been to York this afternoon where it was just 11c with thick fog.

18c here in the sun this afternoon. At 3pm it was still 17c at over 300m asl on the Woodhead Pass.

Where the sun didn't touch the grass was wet with dew like an Autumn morning.

06-18 maxes are in - Trawscoed topped out at 22.4C. Coldest place was Wisley (Surrey) i think, with +9.5C. Not often Wisley is the coldest.

I looked at the list of maxima and assumed the Trawscoed figure was an obvious error. Nowhere else in the UK exceeded 19C today. Colour me very sceptical.

As far as I can see the next warmest was 18.9C at Capel Curig and Bala. Across the Irish Sea Valentia hit 19.5C.

Was Trawscoed really 3.5C warmer than anywhere else in the country? It seems to be being reported as genuine but it's the kind of reading that would raise major red flags if you were looking back at old records.
