Snowing here now, with the first signs of a slushy deposit. It had been raining for most of the afternoon and turned to sleet about an hour ago.

Chucking it down, rain rates of up over 30 mm/hr recently. 29.2 mm for the day, about a third of that in the last hour.

Heavy sleet in Edinburgh at 80m amsl for a few hours but Penicuik to the SE of here at 150-200m amsl has lying snow now!

Amazing temperature gradient again...Southern Uplands of Scotland are at 0 C with heavy snow and yet Keswick in the Lakes is 11 C!

Ended up with half an inch on most surfaces here but friends reporting 2-3 inches up in Penicuik and West Linton. Seems to be getting lighter now....better than expected though and our 4th day with snow falling this season
