OK the situation is we have a secondary low moving north into cold air. The metoffice seems to have played down the risk of snow to lower levels which, I think, reflects the EURO4 output quite well. However I am skeptical; and remember situations like this before where surprise snowfall has been more widespread than anticipated. In particular though the other short term models do not support the EURO4 limiting snow to higher ground. Yorkshire in particular is progged to see local accumulations (perhaps even in the likes of leeds and york) for a time and I'm inclined to agree given that winds will be light, and precipitation is likely to be heavy.

This might be a useful streaming webcam for watching any snow in the leeds area.

Hopeful of seeing some snow falling but doubt we will get anything significant lying.
We may be helped by a E or NE wind pepping up the precipitation on this side of the Pennines , could possibly cause a shadow in places in the NW .

Evaporative cooling kicking in now with heavy rain turning to sleet temperature 2.1c, over high ground it must be accumulating quickly.

Down to 2.5c from 4.5c before the rain started, just a few sleety bits starting to mix in with the moderate rain.

Its all wet snow falling now leaving a slushy covering on car windscreens, temperature 1.4c.

This is our third snowfall this season which considering what a bloody awful winter it is I should be grateful!

Turned to wet snow here and down to 1.2c but recently temperature has risen and gone back up to 1.7c with sleet falling. Think we are too far south .

Temperature has shot up another degree in 15 mins. Now 6.7c. Was sleety earlier at 3c with a dusting over 450 metres.

The wind has been very gusty this past few hours compared to nothing at all at 8am.

I am in the southern dales where there is a covering of snow above about 150 to 200m. However it's even raining here now and 1c as the warmer upper air moves north.

0.4C with heavy but rather wet snow falling, there is about an inch on the ground but maybe 4" higher up

Well it's blowing a gale outside here now with heavy rain and temperatures up to 11c.... any glimmer of hope the euro 4 (?) was providing yesterday has been literally blown away as the low is quite a bit further north, and down here we are very much in the warm sector. Still looks good for the NE, all the same

Nice picture, is that at sea level?

Meanwhile here after falling to 1.0 in snow, temp rose to 2.8c, but now down to 2.2c with some particular heavy rain.
Wunderground shows that stations around Ripon with modest altitude are reporting snow and 0c with rain further south. 9c in Huddersfield area . Some gradient.
