I can't remember temperatures of +15 or 16c in December ever? Bare in mind this November was the 3rd warmest on record as well. Time to turn off the central heating then.

Looks like the exceptionally milder than average weather/record breaking temperatures the NE USA and Canada are experiencing this weekend will head our way!  Just doesn't feel festive and it's so unseasonal. I would like one day of frost - just one morning but it looks as if this is asking for too much in December.

I won't be happy if we experience a bitterly cold spring and have a colder Spring month than Winter month! - I remember the first/second week of April 1998 very well. "3 to 4 inches of snow fell throughout most of the SW. - BUT it melted the next day though. - Was like a winter wonderland at one morning. 6th April 1998 I think.

Brilliant work Gav. I think a very interesting week is coming up. Almost certainly some date records will go and perhaps just an outside chance that the all time December record may fall on Thursday. Even if it doesn't, to reach 16-17 as late as 17th December would surely represent a date record and as you say in any glimpses of sun it will feel bizarre and very much like May.
In a perverse way I am hoping for the all time record temp next week. I accept it's unlikely but just about feasible somewhere in the UK.

Thanks Gavin, I am a bit disappointed it's not turning colder, but if it's going to be very mild, then let's break some records.
