Yes, I am keeping a close eye on it. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a few flakes in the rain but not much apart from that. Given the outlook beyond the coming night this thread may be quiet for a while!

With 850hpa temps below zero and surface temps below zero we have a thin warm layer somewhere in between (actually very unusual for the UK, but common as dirt in the US). Wind speeds are virtually zero, so the variable that matters here is the intensity, if the precip is light it will stay as rain, but anything reasonably heavy will turn to snow very quickly.

As expected it stayed as rain throughout here but as modelled and forecast it stayed as (and is still as I write this) snowy inland. 15cm in Aviemore and 6cm in Aboyne according to the BBC.

5th consecutive morning with snow lying in my home town of Aberfeldy [100mtrs asl] in Highland Perthshire. Melting a bit this morning despite the temp hovering just above freezing.

A nice thread. Good to see the reports and photographs.

I hadn't realised it was so wintry this weekend in so many places.

Down here it never fell below 10c
