Still no crazy amounts of snow but a nice Christmas Day with 50cm of snowfall, beginning from early afternoon on Christmas Day and persisting until midday on Boxing Day.

Down to -20c this morning but generally a dry week ahead. Increasingly windy this week and remaining below freezing.

Thanks for sharing, so that's where winter has gone.  I hope you and your family are safe and well.

Looks like a bit of a damp squib if you ask me!

Thank you for sharing those super pictures; I love that ethereal light.

Thanks for comments

It is all relative but we are well under normal for the time of year. The Scandi High which is brewing isn't good for my rage too  Plenty of dry weather ahead this coming week (and perhaps beyond) but at least it gives you guys some hope of an E'ly.

Didn't we used to have Scandinavian thread? I think that'd be useful to keep track of the weather up there, especially with the weather set to turn much colder.

Great pictures anyway. Hard to believe that is considered insignificant.

I'm off to Northern Finland in February, and I've been watching the snow reports and webcams avidly since booking. What's notable is that there, they rarely have more than about 10-15cm at a time, often less, and the snow depth builds up gradually throughout the season. On average the deepest it gets is about 70-80cm.

So it's interesting that you can get that in one go there; surely due to your proximity to the Atlantic and your altitude causing orographic lifting?

A Scandinavian thread did exist but I had some help with Peter from Finland. I guess I am a lurker nowadays owing to time constraints (or more accurately, because of working out and hours prepping/cooking healthy/organic meals!!)

The weather here is mostly benign and sunny all the time, so not much to talk about bar the occasional heatwave. On the other hand, we are at major risk of earthquake, tsunami, and wildfire so it's not as if we do not have extremes.  I do miss the snow and cold though from my time in Helsinki.

Anyway, always good to see your pictures Mike and hope you had a great Christmas, and will have a prosperous New Year!
